A 23-year-old Charlton Chimenya electrical and electronics engineer from Zomba has showcased his creativity with the design of an innovative 360 spinning machine.
The machine, commonly used for capturing 360-degree rotation videos, is a testament to Chimenya’s resourcefulness and innovative thinking.
Chimenya, who is currently based in Liwonde, drew inspiration from scraps to create the machine. Using materials such as flat bars, angle iron, round wood boards, DC motors and bearings, Chimenya brought his idea to life.
“I started this project just a month ago,I just wanted to create something new and innovative that would attract attention and put my name on the map,” he said.
Chimenya’s goal is to become an internationally recognised engineer, known for his creativity and innovative designs. With his latest project, he is well on his way to achieving his dream.
“We are still testing the machine, currently we are using it at my friends studio so far the results are coming out good, after this I will start inventing more for business, it’s now high time we should start using our Malawian products in this country,” he said.
As a young engineer, Chimenya has already gained valuable experience working with his father, also an electrical engineer, on various projects, including electrical installations and solar system installations and apart from this Chimenya has invented electrical heaters in plastic pails.
Chimenya’s innovative 360 rotating machine design is a testament to his creativity and resourcefulness. As he continues to work on his project, he is sure to inspire others with his passion for engineering and innovation.
“It is very good to see that our fellow youths are doing something and as one of the videographers I am patiently waiting for the machine to hit the market. I will support him and am urging my fellow videographer to embrace it too,” said Dailes Phiri, CEO of compassion media in Lilongwe.
