In Chikwawa, a 28-year-old youthful educator cum-entreprenuer, Ganizani Brighton is living his dream after he opened a private school.
Brighton, a holder of Certificate in Teaching is the founder, headteacher and director of “Success Private Academy”, an entity comprising a nursery and primary school.
The educator established the school in September 2023, beginning with 12 nursery school kids.
“Growing up, I have always dreamed of opening a school in my home village, Malata Village in the area of Traditional Authority Makhwira and I am glad my dream materialised,” said Brighton.
The school has since grown, raking in an impressive enrollment of 80 learners spread over the nursery to primary school.
“My school has at least reduced some challenges learners from my village were facing to access quality education,” said Brighton.
Asked on how he managed to acquire land and construct infrastructures required for school standards, Brighton said he has been saving money through village savings bank.
“I also received support through the government-led initiative called Smart Enhanced Public Works Programme, after they noticed my passion and I used that money to construct 3 blocks,” he added.
Currently, Brighton has employed seven teachers who are helping him to run the day-to-day operations of the school.
Education expert Island Mtambo has hailed Brighton, calling his achievement a significant step towards eradicating illiteracy.
“Its a remarkable feat to be achieved by someone who is just 28 years and I think he needs our support,” said Mtambo.
