US-based Malawi’s Women’s football star Temwa Chawinga has won July EA Sports player of the month for the month of July.
EA Sports FC is an association football award that recognizes the best player each month.
The news come barely days after she continues to shine for Kansas City team having taken her tally to 12 goals.
Chawinga who was named as world’s top goals scorer joined Kansas City in January this year for a two-year contract following the expiry of her contract with China based Wuhan Jiangda University having played for two years.
In 2023 the Chawinga sisters won the hearts of many as their team Wuhan Jiangda thrashed their opponent 8-1 in the Chinese Women’s Super League.
Speaking in an interview with ProjectM Lustica Gondwe General Secretary for Malawi Women’s Footbal hailed Chawinga for the great performance.
The Malawian star was named as the Worlds top goal scorer by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) in December 2023 having scored 63 goals for her club and country.
She also won the Golden Boot Award in the Chinese Super League with 30 goals in the Chinese Super League and 15 goals for the Chinese National Cup.
Last year she added 12 goals for the Scorchers in the COSAFA tournament in South Africa where she brought home a COSAFA Golden Boot.
