Malawi women’s football star Temwa Chawinga has kept the pace to win the Golden Boot in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the US.
This follows the Malawian star’s scoring the consolation goal as her team lost 2-1 to rivals Orlando Pride.
After scoring, Temwa took her tally to 12 just like Zambian Star Barbara Banda who also scored for Orlando Pride.
NWSL Facebook Page reads: “The battle for the golden boot award in the National Women’s Soccer League in USA continues to hit up after Scorchers forward, Temwa Chawinga and Zambian forward, Barbra Banda scored when their teams met.
Banda’s Orlando Pride travelled to KC Stadium to face Kansas City Current of [Temwa] in a top of the table cash plus a fight in the golden boot race.
Brazilian legend Malta had to separate the team’s with her 63rd minute penalty goal after Chawinga had cancelled out Banda’s goal two minutes after the opener for Pride to win 2-1.
The defeat also brought KC Current unbeaten run to an end as they dropped to second with 35 points from 16 matches, three points behind Orlando.
Meanwhile, the club celebrated Temwa’s goal in style saying it was the 40th goal of the team for the season which is more than any other team so far.
