Primary school teacher Jafali Jossam won this years Mount Mulanje Porters Race in the men
s category.
The 28-year-old teacher completed the 25-kilometre race in 2:09.01 hours (hr), second-positioned Anthony Mathias aged 18 finished in 2:12.47hr and Evance Nyazure was third in 2:13.00hr.
In the women`s category, Gloria Adam aged 18 emerged the champion in 2:40.18hr while Doris Fisher came second having completed the race in 2:41.26hr hours and Mphatso Khembo was third in 2:44.00hrs.
And for those that
run 10km , Isaac Chauwa came first seconded by Raphick Slajih.
The champions in the men’s and women’s category pocked K1 million while the second-placed walked away with K800,000 and third-positioned got K600,000 sponsored by Malawi Gaming & Lotteries Authority (MAGLA).
The event was, among others, graced by the Minister of Tourism, Honourable Vera Kamtukule.
