In a tribute to the late Felia Malola, the Talk to Someone Foundation has donated items to Pashelo Charitable Trust, a foundation that was dear to her heart.
Founded by Felia, who passed away on 11 November last year, the foundation supports vulnerable groups, including orphans, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
A memorial service to honor Felia’s life and work was organized by her family on 10th November 2024, bringing together those who were impacted by her kindness and commitment to helping others.
The donation, valued at K2.5 million is a significant gesture that highlights the deep respect and admiration the Talk to Someone Foundation has for Felia’s work.
Dr. Tabitha Kayira Ngomwa, founder of Talk to Someone Foundation expressed how the organisation has always been inspired by Felia’s selflessness.
Said: “We have made this donation in honor of what Felia was doing through the Pashelo Foundation. She was also a member of the Talk to Someone Facebook group, where we shared a common vision of helping those in need.
“It is a privilege to continue her work and support the community she cared so much about.”
One of the most vital initiatives of Pashelo Charitable Trust is its weekly feeding programme, which serves over 200 elderly people. Every Friday, these elders gather at the foundation to receive a nutritious meal.
This programme has been a lifeline for many, especially as the elderly face increasing challenges in their daily lives.
However, like many charitable organisations, Pashelo has faced challenges due to limited resources.
In response, the Talk to Someone Foundation has stepped in with a generous donation.
The foundation has provided maize flour, worth K2.5 million, which will sustain the feeding programme for over a week and this donation will significantly ease the burden of sourcing food.
In addition to the maize flour, the foundation has also contributed 10 bales of soya pieces and a bag of sugar, which are essential ingredients in the meals prepared for the elderly.
During the donation ceremony, Gogo Agnes Mailosi, one of the regular participants in the feeding program, expressed her gratitude for the visit and the support.
She said: “Even though there are times we don’t get to eat, I still come. I know that it’s difficult, but we appreciate whatever we get. Some of the other elders have stopped coming because things are not the way they used to be.
“But we still have hope that things will turn around, and we continue to pray for better days. We wish for more well-wishers to come forward and help with this cause, so that we can keep feeding our elderly community members.”
The programme has made a significant impact in the lives of the elderly in the area. Many of the recipients of the meals are unable to work due to age or health conditions, and the weekly meals provide them with not only nourishment but also a sense of community and care.
The donation from Talk to Someone Foundation will help ensure that this vital program continues for the foreseeable future.
Felia Malola’s legacy continues to live on through the work of Pashelo Charitable Trust and the ongoing support from organisations like Talk to Someone Foundation.
The work Felia started has touched the lives of many, and this donation serves as a reminder that the community she built will continue to thrive in her honor.
As Dr. Ngomwa aptly put it :: “Felia’s vision of helping others lives on through all of us. This donation is just one of the ways we can contribute to ensuring that her legacy endures.”
