Malawi National Women’s Football Scorchers captain Tabitha Chawinga scored a goal in the second leg of the UEFA Women’s Champions League Quarter-final match as Olympique Lyonnais came from behind to beat Bayern Munich 4-1 and reach the semi-finals.
After scoring an opener in the first leg in their 2-0 victory in Germany, Chawinga killed off the game on the hourmark with a brilliant finish to make it 3-1 before Lyon stretched the lead in added on time.
The Lyon have progressed with a 6-1 aggregate win and will face English outfit Arsenal, in the semi-finals.
Arsenal turned the tables to register a 3-2 aggregage win after losing 2-0 to Real Madrid in the first leg in Spain.
Another set of semi-finalists will be completed on when Chelsea Women face Manchester City who beat them 2-0 in the first leg while Barcelona will go with a 4-1 lead on aggregate against Wolfsburg.
Ahead of both quarter-final match, Chawinga was rested by the team in the Arkema Premier League in France and has managed to score in both matches.
Tabitha has two goals and two assists in the campaign and last year, she also reached the semi-finals with PSG but they lost to Lyon who also fell to Barcelona in the final.
Her motivation to join PSG rivals Lyon was to win the Champions League and her dream is so far on track.
