SVTM DONATES PLASTIC SHEETS TO 106 FLOOD SURVIVORS IN NSANJE

The Shire Valley Transformation Movement (SVTM) has donated plastic sheets to 106 flood victims at a tune of K1.6 million in the area of Traditional Authority Ndamera in Nsanje for them to construct their shelters in the district.

Programs Manager for SVTM, Festone Mpomba said the organization decided to reach out to the communities who had completely nothing.

He said the locals from the area have for long time not been assisted hence the donation.

Mpomba told ProjectM that each beneficiary will receive ten metres of the plastic papers so that they can build a shelter.

” The SVTM have no resources for the procurement of the day,” he said.

A beneficiary Murrium Fatch said the donation has come at the right time as the elderly were not assisted accordingly.

She has thanked the Shire Valley Transformation Movement for coming with the plastic papers to their meeting upon.

” The assistance has come at the right time when some some of the survivors had nothing,” said Fatch.

On this point, the beneficiary has since appealed to other NGOs and individuals to emulate the gesture of the SVTM saying there are still others who are in dire need of support.

According to Fatch the communities lost many things which she said can not be recovered at once.
