SOLDIER LUCIUS BANDA DIES

Veteran musician Lucius Banda died on Sunday, 30 June, 2024 in South Africa while receiving treatment.

Banda started his music career at the age of 15 together with his brother Paul in the Alleluya Band.

He went to South Africa where he studied music at Dorkey House.

Lucius Banda, who was fondly known by his stage name Soldier, in most songs of his songs, was a fierce critic to the government prompted him to form his own Zembani Band in 1997.

His first album was titled “The Son of Poor Man” and produced about 20 albums to his credit.

Songs of his songs Cease Fire, Not Easy Road, Mabala, Cell 51, Take Over just to mention but a few.

Banda also served as Balaka North Parliamentarian under the United Democratic Front (UDF) ticket but until his death he served as UTM campaign Director.

Banda was hospitalised after he was diagnosed with kidney failure.

The musician was born in 1970 and is survived with a wife and three children.
