Rumphi Entrepreneur Bubbles in Soap-Making Business

In a heartwarming tale of determination and resilience, Mirriam Domphi, a young entrepreneur from Rumphi, has built a successful soap production business from a scratch.

Mirriam Soap Production, which was launched in September 2024, has gained momentum, producing seven bars of soap per week, selling the tablets at K300 each.

Despite facing financial hurdles that forced her to abandon her public health studies, Mirriam persevered and invested in her passion for soap making.

“I have benefited a lot from my soap production business and my goal is to open a big soap manufacturing company in Rumphi, selling my products countrywide and even exporting them.

“For now, I only make washing bar soap but one day I will be producing any kind of soap,” said Mirriam.

Mirriam’s business has not only improved her life but also created opportunities for her community.

She has opened a small grocery shop and became an mpamba and Airtel money agent, providing essential services to locals.

“My business has not only improved my life but also created opportunities for my community. I’m eager to expand my reach,” said Mirriam.

However, Mirriam faces a significant challenge such as securing enough materials to scale up her production.

Despite this hurdle, her determination and resilience inspire hope for a brighter future.

Residents of Rumphi have tastfied about the quality of Miriam’s bar soaps.

“I’m impressed with the quality of Mirriam’s soap,It’s cheap and affordable and I love the fact that it’s made locally. I will definitely be buying more,” explained Shyree Hara a customer.
