Potato Farming Pays Off for Isaac Mhango

Up-and-coming potato farmer Isaac Mhango has encouraged the youth not to underestimate the potential of farming.

Despite running a large business, Mhango ventured into potato farming and has already started seeing profits from his 3-acre harvest, out of the 10 acres he initially planted.

Mhango said potato farming has the potential to boost one’s life and the country as a whole.

He believes that farming can be a lucrative venture and should be considered as a career path.

“I feel sad when I see young people struggling, especially in the villages where you find most of them has huge farm but they don’t utilise it. It’s high time we teach those people the benefits of farming,” explained Mhango.

Mhango’s potato farm has started generating income, and he is optimistic about the future of agriculture in Malawi.

His decision to take up potato farming has paid off and he is planning to expand his operations.

“Come next year and you will for find a ‘mega’ farm not this small thing,” added Mhango.

The farmer has planted 10 acres of potatoes and has already harvested three acres, which have generated significant profits. Mhango’s success in potato farming is an inspiration to many young people.

Mhango’s message to the youth is that farming is a viable business that can change lives and contribute to the country’s economic growth.

Emilia Chirwa, who is one the Mhangos regular customer said Mhango is selling the potatoes prices are fair price and this helps young entrepreneurs to be independent.
