Violet Pondakwao, a 24-year-old graduate from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), has turned her academic goals into a thriving consultancy service.
Through her company, Tree House Holdings Limited, Pondakwao is helping Malawian companies make profits and expand their reach into international markets.
“I saw a gap in the market where most Malawian businesses fail to export because they are not export-ready and do not understand the processes,” she said.
“Others fail to find markets for their products. This pushed us to empower them to run more efficiently and effectively.”
Pondakwao’s company offers a range of services, including product market alignment, facilitating licenses and permits for imports and exports and providing export guidance and advisory services.
Since its establishment in 2009, Tree House Holdings Limited has employed over 100 people, both males and females, in an effort to promote economic growth and job creation.
However, Pondakwao notes that one of the biggest challenges facing her company is a lack of agriculture suppliers from Malawi.
“This has made it difficult for us to meet the supply capacity for our international clients,” she said.
Despite this challenge, Pondakwao remains optimistic about the future. Her plan is to create a global marketplace where agricultural producers and businesses of all sizes can unlock their potential, expand their reach, and achieve sustainable growth.
“In essence, our company is benefiting a lot of Malawians by finding markets for their products, enabling them to make more revenue, and collecting other benefits,” said Pondakwao.
“Our mission is to support clients to succeed in international markets with minimum complexities.”
Pondakwao’s story is an inspiring testament to the power of vision and dedication.
Through her work, she is proving that with the right support and tools, women everywhere can achieve incredible success.
