Poetry Association of Malawi has plans to launch medium map to give its fans a platform to watch poetry recitals.
The association’s general secretary Patwell Phiri told ProjectM, the medium map will, among other things, help to promote poetry in the country.
“We will soon launch this project because we want to put in place a mechanism to market poetry in the country,” he said.
The general secretary also thanked development partners for supporting the initiative, saying it will help improve the skills of new members to come up with their identical work rather than copying from others.
“We thank our partners Innobuild Limited Company who have donated a plot to construct our offices and once funds are available, we will start developing the plot. We are also planning to hold nationwide training for our members so that they should come up with their work in line with the Malawi 2063 agenda,” he said.
Phiri also commended government for supporting poets.
Apart from Innobuild Limited donation of a plot, the association also got funding from European Union and UNESCO which was used to hold poetry competitions as well as amendment of the constitution of the association which has 270 registered members.
