ORGANIZATION MOVES IN TO EMPOWER SPECIAL NEEDS LEARNERS

In a bid to promote inclusive education and technology innovations among children, an organisation “Community Focus” has constructed a computer lab at Mitole Primary School in Chikwawa District.

The computer lab has been constructed to help learners with special needs acquire knowledge in technological advancements.

Community Focus Executive Director Joshua Malunga has told ProjectM that the lab will, among others, help learners with special needs understand the benefits of using technology for learning.

“Mitole Primary School is one of the district’s big primary schools, with an enrollment of over 2,000 learners including learners with special needs, which prompted us as an organization to help,” he said.

Malunga indicated that the organisation will implement a similar project to other schools in the district to help the country achieve its 2063 agenda.

“We believe teaching children the benefits of using technology at a young age would accelerate the country’s dream of developing economically and technologically by the year 2063,” he said.

The computer lab is equipped with 15 computers, furniture and solar panels.

One of the learners, Tonica Dawu hailed the organisation for constructing the lab, saying it will help learners acquire computer skills.
