ONESIMUS SHINES BRIGHT AT THIS YEAR’S SHINING STAR AFRICA AWARDS

One of the country’s award-winning afro-pop musicians, Armstrong Kalua known by his stage name “Onesimus” has clinched an award at this year’s Shining Star Africa Awards that took place Saturday night in South Africa.

Onesimus, 34, has been awarded the “Best male artist of the year” award, beating competitors from other southern African nations.

Announcing the news on his Facebook page, the “Controller” hit maker commended his fans for voting for him.

“Thank you for voting for me, I have brought the award home,” said Onesimus.

The Saturday night’s award adds to a collection of awards the artist has won both locally and internationally.

In 2022, Onesimus also won the Zikomo award in the same category that were hosted in Zambia.

Meanwhile, Musicians Union of Malawi board chairperson Wycliffe Chimwendo-Banda has applauded Onesmus for winning the award, saying he deserves it.

“Onesimus is a hard worker, talented and I am not surprised that he has won this award,” said Chimwendo-Banda.

Banda has since advised other musicians to emulate what he has described him as a workaholic spirit.

“Onesimus win is a win for Malawi, and am I confident to say as Malawi we have taken the right direction,” he said.
