Malawi’s renowned Afro beat artist Armstrong Kalua, popularly known as Onesimus has won best male artist in the Hollywood and African Award (Hapa) in Tanzania.
The award comes barely a week after he won the Best Artist in Africa awards, an event that that took place in South Africa.
Speaking in an interview, Onesimus said he was grateful to Malawians for the award
“I owe this award to Malawians who have made it possible and this award belongs to them,” he explained.
The Hapa Awards is one of the prestigious awards for achievements in the film and music industry.
Just this year, Onesimus has brought home 3 awards following another award in best male artist in All African Music Award (AFRIMA) award, becoming the first Malawian to win such an award.
In May this year, his song “Controller” became the first Malawian song to hit 100 million views on tiktok with popular musicians like Psquare vibing to the song.
