North Region Water Board Games Promote Employee Network

The Northern Region Water Board (NRWB) has held its Inter-Zone Games at Karonga Teachers’ Training College with officers from the Head Office, South East Zone and Northern Zone coming together to compete in various sporting disciplines, including netball, volleyball, football, chess, bawo and draft.

Held over the weekend, the games were not only about competition, but fostering teamwork, wellness and unity among NRWB employees.

“These games are meant to encourage networking among our officers as well as to keep them fit,” said NRWB Chief Executive Officer Francis Munthali during the award ceremony.

The tournament saw competitive matches, with the South East Zone winning both the netball and volleyball finals, walking away with K200,000 and K300,000 respectively, along with two trophies, while the Head Office dominated in football, winning K500,000. Winners of chess, bawo and draft each received K20,000.

Chairperson of the organising committee, Emmanuel Kanje, highlighted the broader impact of the games.

“This platform helped our employees brainstorm, share information and build stronger working relationships across zones.”

The event did not only celebrated sporting talent but also demonstrated NRWB’s commitment to building a connected and collaborative workforce.
