MUSLIM WORLD REACHES OUT TO 1,000 HOUSEHOLDS WITH FOOD AID

The Muslim World League (MWL) says it has reached out to 1,000 households with 10 kilogrammes packs of maize flour in an effort to address the hunger situation in the country.

Region Project Manager for MWL, Dr Waleed Abbas said his organisation distributed bags of maize flour to the communities who have been affected by hunger due to poor yield.

Speaking to ProjectM, Dr Abbas said he is aware of the hunger situation which people are going through in the country which has not spared Nsanje Central in Nsanje District.

“We are reaching out to one thousand families with each a bag of maize flour of ten kilograms,” he said

In his remarks, Parliamentarian for Nsanje Central Kafandikhale Mandevana thanked the MWL for donating to his constituents who are hit hard with hunger

On this point, Mandevana has appealed to other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and well-wishers to emulate the gesture.

“There are still more people in the area who need relief items,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Malawi Vulnerability Assessment Committee (MVAC) report projects 4.2 million people need food.
