MUBAS STUDENT DEVELOPS WEBSITE FOR ONLINE SERVICES

Third year student from the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS), Madalitso Mofolo has developed an app known as Tiguleni Website to provide users access to online services.

Mofolo, aged 23, is currently studying land economy at the university, started developing this project three months ago.

The Tiguleni Website is a market place platform with several key functionalities whereby users can create three types of accounts which include; buyers, suppliers and service providers.

The platform also features a swap market place where users can barter trade items, which include an online ticket purchasing system, generating QR codes for event tickets that can be scanned at entrances to verify validity and retrieve user details such as tickets for buses, games and other events subject to verification by the event hosts and bus companies.

Mofolo was motivated to venture into this project to create a platform that can facilitate commerce and trade in his community.

“I saw an opportunity to bridge the gap between buyers, suppliers and service providers, making transaction more accessible and efficient. We aim at improving the platform based on user feedback and expand its features,” he added.

The website is ready and is expected to go live next week, with plans for continuous improvement and future expansion.
“We are excited to bring this platform to the market and see how it can benefit the community. This project promises to bring significant benefits and boost for our development,” said Mofolo.

Balancing up his studies and the project work, limited financial resources and occasional technical difficulties were some of the challenges that he faced.

Mofolo said he plans to establish his own company and seek out potential investors to secure funding for further development and marketing.

He has also advised and up-and-coming innovators to allow themselves to be so focused on their goals, go after their dreams and keep pushing forward to create a guide for success in both personal and professional life.
