MUBAS In Inclusive Digital Transformation Project

The Department of Computer Science and Information Systems (CSIS) at MUBAS is making significant strides in promoting inclusive digital transformation in Malawi through its two-year IDT4M Project.

This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by providing vital digital skills training.

Recently, 35 administrative assistants from various sections of the institution were trained in essential skills such as online calendar management, digital document handling, email management and social media use.

Dr. Patrick Chikumba, the Head of CSIS told Project the goals include increasing youth participation in digital literacy, supporting digital innovation and promoting gender equality in the digital realm.

“We have lined up several activities such as online digital training for staff and students, artificial intelligence awareness and promoting digital awareness among students and teachers in secondary schools,” he said.

The project also involves online training of staff and students as well as initiatives to promote digital transformation in secondary schools.

Veronica Kachale, one of the participants, praised the training, stating it has equipped her with advanced digital skills that will improve her productivity.

She expressed confidence in applying the new skills to enhance her work ethic.

The IDT4M project is supported by the Malawi Government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) with the University of Malawi, Malawi University of Science and Technology and Mzuzu University also participating.

The initiative seeks to position Malawi at the forefront of digital innovation and inclusive development.
