MOYALE, KARONGA BOOK FDH BANK CUP SEMI-FINALS

Moyale Barracks FC and Karonga United have qualified for the FDH Bank Cup semi-finals following their 2-1 victories over Lube FC and Mafco respectively

Moyale laboured to a 2-1 with goals scored by Emmanuel Allan and Luke Chima while Lube got the consolation goal through Raffick Kabwazi.

Allan opened Moyale’s scoreline in the 27th minute, but the lower league side equalised in the 72nd Kabwazi. In the 81st minute Moyale breathed a sigh of relief after Chima restored their lead.

To reach the quarter-finals, Moyale beat Chintheche United 7-1 before seeing off fellow soldiers, MDF Marine 4-1.

On the other hand, Lube Master had an easier route to the quarter-finals with a 1-0 win over Sporting Club and a penalty shootout 5-4 win over Raiply FC.

At Chitowe in Dwangwa, Karonga United dumped hosts Mafco out of the cup by the same margin to progress to the semi-finals.

Blessings Mwalilimo inspired Karonga when he scored in the 7th and 24th minutes to destabilise the hosts.

Auspicious Kadzongola pulled one back for Mafco in the 46th minute, but it was not enough as Karonga held their nerves to progress.

Moyale will meet the winners between FCB Nyasa Big Bullets and Civo Sporting Club while Karonga on collision course with Baka or Blue Eagles in the semi-finals.

In an interview, Moyale assistant coach Victor Chingoka described the game as tough considering that they struggled to get the goals.

“It was a difficult game. The opponents were equally good. The most important thing is to win,” he said.

Lube Masters coach Harold Phiri said they were let down by goalkeeping.

“We played well, but the goalkeeper was not good today. We conceded soft goals,” he said..
