MEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONS SET FOR ZIMBABWE TOURNEY

Malawi’s national men basketball champions Brave hearts are all set to participate in the qualifying tournament Road to BAL in Harare, Zimbabwe from 22 to 27 October.

Bravehearts is among the teams in Africa who will fight to get to Elite 16 Round.

During the Elite 16 teams will get one of six spots in the premier African men’s basketball league called Basketball African League (BAL).

They will go up against other clubs from neighbouring countries in their group which have Matero Magic (Zambia), Botswana Defence Force Five(Botswana), Desportos Costa Sol (Mozambique), Basket Hounds (Zimbabwe) and Sudan.

Only two teams will then qualify for the Elite 16 in Johannesburg, South Africa which will be held from 12 to 17 November.

Speaking with ProjectM in an interview, President of Bravehearts Basketball Club, Daudi Hussein said preparations are going well.

He said: “We have been training hard and we are ready to compete. We made sure we selected top players.

“The players we have selected are expecting to do well because we are going there with the intention of making it to the next round so that we can represent Malawi.”
