One of the reputable learning institutions, Maranatha Private Schools has stood out as one of the best top performing students by sending 246 students to public universities.
According to the results National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) released, 19,226 applied and 9,226 have been selected.
Speaking with ProjectM in an interview, Enerst Kaonga, Executive Director for Maranatha Schools, said he was delighted with the exceptional performance of the school.
“We are very much delighted by what we have achieved. Thankful to the parents that trusted us with their children. We will do everything possible to make sure we have quality education in all our schools,” he said.
The results come barely days after Kaonga also promised to award 10 top performing boys and girls in the Junior Certificate of Examination (JCE).
In his capacity, as the President of Private Schools Association of Malawi (PRISAM) he said he will give K1 million each to top performing 5 boys and 5 girls making a total of K10 million.
“We want to motivate the students to do well that’s why we will award both girls and boys,” he said.
Last year, the school also sent 306 students to public universities.
Some of the other top performing schools include, Chaminade Boys Secondary School 167, Loyola Jesuit Secondary that has sent 148 students to public universities, Dedza Government Secondary school 128 and Bakhita Girls Secondary school just to mention a few.
