MALAWI’S VISUAL MOUTH PAINTER INVITED TO UK: APPEALS FOR HELP

Malawi’s visual mouth painter, Chrisford Chayera from T/A Nazengera in Lilongwe has been invited to the United Kingdom by the Lipa Ministries to showcase his painting skills at a visual Arts exhibition.

Chris, who lost both his legs and hands due to Polio, is expected to officially leave the country on September 26, next month and will return home on 17 October, 2024.

However, the 53-year-old man said despite this opportunity his dream to showcase his art work, he he cannot manage to raise K4 million for two air tickets for him and his wife.

He said: “We are appealing to the well-wishers to help us with two air tickets to fly to the United Kingdom and perform my duties. The Lipa Ministries will only manage to pay for the accommodation and food.

“While in UK we are expected to perform our talent at Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Newcastle and Gateshead.”

Chayera told ProjectM that he is excited with the invitation which will enable him to display his innovations and continue to raising the Malawian flag.

The Multi- Award-Winning innovator has encouraged those with disabilities not to get discouraged chasing their dreams, saying they can make an impact on the society.

“Disability is not a barrier and it is an opportunity to showcase resilience, determination and the power of the human spirit.

“It is time to shift our mindset to recognise that every person, regardless of ability has the power to contribute, achieve and inspire,” he said.

The mouth painter, who has been in the creative industry since 1994, assured Malawians that his vision is to provide exceptional painting services to satisfy customers.

“This milestone is not just a testament to my dedication and hard work, but a celebration of the trust and loyalty that Malawians and friends from other countries have shown to me over the years.

“I have an outstanding performance of making artworks of any kind and size, from pencil to sign board making, paintings, portraits, landscape drawing, concepts and many more,” he said.
