MALAWI’S 34TH INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR ATTRACTS SIX FOREIGN EXHIBITORS

The 34th Malawi International Trade fair which was opened on Thursday May 23 by President Lazarus Chakwera at the Chichiri Trade Fair grounds in Blantyre has attracted almost six foreign exhibitors

The fair, which has been organised by the Malawi Confederations of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCCI), started on May 23 up to May 29 under the theme: Boosting Malawi’s Export Capacity Through Enhanced Production.

MCCCI communications executive orama Chiphwanya has indicated that the six exhibitors are from Kenya, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Mozambique making a total of 170 local and international exhibitors taking part in this Year’s Malawi International Trade Fair.

Chiphwanya has urged Malawian companies, youths and general traders to come through and participate in the fair in order to get rare opportunities and exchange business knowledge.

She adds: “This is a remarkable platform that brings together exhibitors from Malawi, across Africa and beyond. This will create a platform where businesses can exchange knowledge but at the same time showcase their products and services to potential clients which can lead to future opportunities and potential financial gains.

“However, I must also make a crean breast here that apart from the six foreign exhibitors others have also shown interest to join us soon and we shall be able to give the actual figure at the end of the activities.”

She said that some of the local exhibitors, which are showcasing their products and services to attract potential customers, include: Multichoice Malawi, Blantyre Water Board, Old Mutual, Illovo Sugar Malawi, Media Aid Society of Masm and many more

”We are happy to announce the African continental free trade area has also organised information sessions with some interested businesses which will including follow up sessions on Monday May 27 and Tuesday May 28. Local companies and general traders are encouraged to attend these sessions in order to know how the international market looks like and be able to penetrate the same and realise their full potential,” she said.
