A company owned by a Malawian female entreprenuer, GR and C Investments is among dozens of companies that are participating in the ongoing 7th Annual Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Industrialization Week in Zimbabwe.
The event, which begun on Monday and is scheduled to conclude on Friday, is dedicated to unlocking opportunities for sustainable economic growth and development.
The event further underlines the important role women entreprenuers play in various value chains.
Speaking to ProjectM, Managing Director of GR and C Investments, Lucy Phiri said her participation at the function has opened new opportunities for her company.
Phiri said among others, she has managed to identify new business opportunities that her company can exploit.
“I am mostly into agricultural product value addition and with my brand, Kunowa Products, I believe I will export more products,” Phiri said.
Phiri, through GR and C Investments, is already a renowned exporter of agricultural products in various countries across the SADC region.
GR and C Investments’ participation at the function has been made possible by the COMESA Federation For National Association of Women in Business Malawi (COMFWB) Malawi chapter, an organization that looks after the interests of the country’s business women in the COMESA region.
The Federation’s national chairperson Selina Mwenelupembe has since commended GR and C Investments for representing the country well at the function.
The SADC Industrialization Week has brought together member states, the private sector, international partners, policy makers, researchers, small and medium enterprises, financial institutions and civil society representatives to share experiences and strategies for driving Industrialization and economic transformation in the region.
