Malawi U-19 Girls Handball Team Wins Silver at Zone VI

The Malawi Under-19 Girls Handball Team has brought home a silver medal after an impressive performance at the International Handball Federation Zone VI Tournament held in Zimbabwe from 29 April to 3 May.

Malawi was represented by two girls’ teams, the Under-17 and the Under-19 sides.

The Under-19 team reached the final and played against Zambia. Despite being red-carded during the game, they fought hard and narrowly lost 38-39, earning a well-deserved silver medal.

Meanwhile, the Under-17 team also gave their best and managed to finish in 5th place among the competing teams.

Malawi National Council of Sports’ Director of Sports Development and Recreation Ivy Chinangwa, praised the young athletes for their achievement and promised continued support for the growth of handball in the country.

“This is a proud moment for Malawi. The girls have shown great potential and determination. We will keep supporting them,” said Chinangwa.

She said the tournament was a great opportunity for the young athletes to gain international experience and showcase their talent.
