Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has accepted an invitation for their legends to play their Malawian counterparts on December 28 at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.
The acceptance letter, dated 5 December was addressed to the Football Association of Malawi General Secretary.
Reads the letter in part: “Reference is made to your letter dated 24 November 2024 and to the letter from Football Legends Association in Malawi dated 20 November 2024, in which you invited the Football Legends Team in Zambia to play a friendly match on 28 December, 2024 at Bingu National Stadium in Malawi.
“The Football Association of Zambia is pleased to inform you that we agree to the invitation and to facilitate participate of the Zambia Legends in the said match. We also agree that FAM and Legends Association of Malawi will provide accommodation and meals as well as organization of the match on the scheduled date.”
FAZ has commended the invitation, saying: “It will foster the standing bilateral relationship between the two countries”.
Football Legends Association of Malawi patron Jim Kalua said they will prepare for the match.
This will be a return friendly match after Malawi played in Zambia on 28 October 2023 in which the host won 2-1.
Among players, the Flames legend comprised Young Chimodzi, Gilbert Chirwa, Francis Songo, Peterkins Kayira, Chancy Gondwe, Mabvutu Lungu, Austin Nyondo, Lawrence Waya, Willy Chambwinja.
