Lujeri Tea Estate has donatedl office supplies and protective gear to Mimosa Police Unit in Mulanje District to bolster crime prevention efforts in the area.
The donation, which included rain suits, reflectors, torches, boots, and various office supplies, to enhance the operational capacity of the police and community security forums.
During the handover ceremony, Lujeri Security Manager Stanford Manjonjola commended the police and community for their dedication to maintaining security.
“Your collaborative efforts in ensuring safety for businesses and residents are commendable. This donation is our contribution to supporting your work and ensuring a safer environment for everyone,” said Manjonjola.
He further assured the company’s continued support to strengthen safety measures in the region.
Sub-Inspector Amos Mthunzi, representing the Mimosa Police Unit, expressed gratitude for the timely gesture, saying the new equipment would improve their capacity to conduct night patrols and respond to incidents.
“We face challenges in executing our duties due to limited resources. This donation will make a big difference, especially during rainy nights, when patrolling becomes difficult,” said Mthunzi.
Echoing these sentiments, Erick Chikapa, chairperson of the community security forum, highlighted how the gear would foster collaboration between the police and community members.
“This support motivates us in our work. With the rain suits and torches, our night patrols will be more efficient, and we will ensure our neighborhoods remain safe,” said Chikapa.
