Luanar Graduate Practices What he Learnt After Job Scarcity

A Lilongwe-based entrepreneur Enock Njoloma is making strides in the agricultural sector after venturing into a farming enterprise.

Njoloma, a graduate of the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) has managed to turn his academic knowledge into a thriving farming business operating under the name “Njoloma Farm”.

He has told ProjectM in an interview that his journey into entrepreneurship was born out of necessity after failing to secure a white-collar job.

“After years of job hunting, I realised that I had to create my own job and that’s when I took the ideas I learned in college and implemented them on my farm,” said Njoloma.

Currently, Njoloma Farm produces a variety of crops, including Maize Onions, Tomatoes and Cabbages.

“Through this venture, I am able to feed my family as well as the entire community here, while creating job opportunities in the process,” said Njoloma.

He added that his vision is to see his farming business extend beyond the farming fields.

“I want to establish a large agri-processing plant capable of adding value to my farm produce for export,” He said.

Lilongwe-based agricultural expert Billy Amos has hailed Njoloma for taking what he described as a risk.

“It is rare to see graduates opting for entrepreneurship and for me, these are the people we need to support as a country,” he said.

Currently, Njoloma Farm is one of the main suppliers of fresh farm food in markets across Lilongwe City.
