The group is producing the oil which is being touted as reliable and well refined.5

Virtus Limited co-founder Akuzike Kamchacha said the company ventured into Palm oil production after an extensive market research which revealed a huge customer base in the cooking oil sector.

“We started production few years ago and as of now, we have grown into one of the country’s reliable Palm oil producers,” he said.

The group is producing the product using palm fruits sourced locally from farmers.

Among other processes, the palm fruits are crushed or pressed to extract crude palm oil.

“The Crude Palm Oil is then refined to remove impurities, resulting in refined palm oil,” said Kamchacha.

The product, which is currently being sold under the brand “Virtus Red Palm oil, is being touted as nutritious and cheap.

“Our product is almost 100 percent pure and natural, rich in vitamins A and E, perfect for frying and cooking and has longer shelf life,” he added.

The product is currently being produced and sold on an industrial scale countrywide and can be accessed in some retail stores.

Virtus Red Palm oil was applauded by the country’s Minister of Trade and Industry Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba, who praised the product at this year’s “Buy Malawi strategy” commemorations.

“It’s a product worth sampling,” said Mumba.
