A Lilongwe-based company has found a niche in processing castor oil products.
The company, owned by siblings, is called Pililani, Isaac, Lumbani and Fumbani (PILF) Natural Products and has been in operation since 2018.
PILF Natural Products co-owner and customer and public communications officer, Lumbani John Chisi has told ProjectM in an interview that the company specialises in the manufacturing of natural castor oil products, which are mostly used by skincare enthusiasts.
“Our product is not gender specific, market forces are proving that because we do receive orders from both men, women, young and old,” said Chisi.
The company owns a plantation of castor plants in Traditional Authority Chikabudula in Area 25 in Lilongwe where raw materials are taken.
“We then extract the product using cold pressing process and extract the ultimate product which is castor oil,” said Chisi.
The company uses social media platforms to market it’s products and has since established a marketing base across Malawi.
“We also have distributors in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzimba, Mzuzu, Mangochi and Zomba. Apart from that, we also use courier service providers to distribute our products to customers,” he added.
Chisi has since disclosed that the company plans to start exporting its products to neighboring countries.
The company has employed 8 permanent workers across Malawi.
Mercy Mwatiwamba, a beauty enthusiast based in Area 2, Lilongwe has hailed PILF Natural Products for producing what she called quality castor oil in Malawi.
