Lilongwe-based visionary youth, Kaitano Moya is slowly inching towards achieving economic success after he successfully launched production of crystalized urine fertilizer and Fertilizer multipliers.
Moya is using his home-made Fertilizer to practice off-season Maize farming, boosting his income in the process.
The multifaceted entreprenuer has also established a thriving tree nursery, an initiative which is helping in addressing climate change in his home village.
Based in Mkuzi village, traditional authority Chitukula, Moya launched his initiatives earlier this year after noticing a gap in the use of innovative farming methods among farmers in the country.
“I am a huge fan of emerging innovative farming methods and when I saw that people in my home village were struggling to access chemical fertilizers, I decided to step in,” Moya said.
Moya then caught up with an organization called Youth Action For Success and Development (YASD), which trained him on how to produce crystalized urine fertilizer.
“After implementing what I was taught, I decided to venture into winter cropping using funds I got from the sell of the Fertilizer,” said Moya.
Using his home-made Fertilizers, Moya got into action cultivating several acres of Maize, a development that has tremendously changed his life as he has managed to harvest once and is on course to harvest extra bags of Maize before the end of this year.
His vision is to see his enterprises thrive into entities that can create employment opportunities.
Meanwhile, Youth Action For Success and Development (YASD) founder and director Edward Chidombe Msiska has hailed Moya for implementing what he was trained.
