LOCAL COMPANY SET TO LAUNCH LOCALLY MANUFACTURED BULBS

DEK Engineering and electrical contractors private limited, a Malawian-owned company, has developed an energy efficient LED bulb which is being touted as the next big thing in the world of electric innovation.

The bulb called “Eka-lite LED bulb’ is an energy saver bulb which uses about 10 percent of energy while giving the same amount of light.

DEK Engineering and Electrical Contractors private limited managing director Daniel Ekali Kwizombe has told ProjectM in an interview that Eka-lite LED bulbs have several advantages over traditional lightning materials that include longer operating life and low energy consumption.

“Eka-lite LED bulbs consume less energy, making them an ideal choice for businesses looking to reduce their electricity costs,” Kwizombe said.

Mass production of the bulbs have already started with the launch of the product set for May 29 at the Golden Peacock Hotel in Lilongwe.

“We have already partnered with Ekhaya Farm Food Supermarkets and other local shops to ensure availability of the product,” said Kwizombe.

Kwizombe has revealed that the company hopes to penetrate the international market with the product with plans to implement the vision at an advanced stage.

Energy expert and environmental activist Maloto Chimkombero has since hailed the coming in of the product, saying it will improve the county’s energy sector.

The coming in of the product is in line with the county’s Malawi 2063 which seeks to boost the county’s economy through production of products that can compete on the international market.
