LILONGWE FARMER INSPIRES STREET-CONNECTED CHILDREN

A 26 year-old livestock farmer Ernest Kapangama has donated school uniforms to 10 street-connected children from Lilongwe.

Kapangama has also promised to continue supporting the children who were on the verge of withdrawing from school due to lack of learning materials.

Despite facing personal financial hardships, Kapangama, a resident of Chinsapo 1 Township said he donated after noticing struggles street-connected children face.

“Being a resident of Chinsapo Township, I know the struggles street connected children face and I felt it wise to make this donation,” said Kapangama.

He said from now onwards, he will be making followups to see how the children are performing in school.

“My wish is to see them excel academically and I’ll always be there for them,” said Kapangama.

The children, who are under the care of One Step Foundation (ONESFO), a local charity organisation, were overwhelmed with joy to receive the donation.

ONESFO executive director, Moses Mwalabu has since described Kapangama’s donation as “timely”.

“We are grateful to Ernest for his kindness and generosity and I believe his donation will go a long way in helping our children feel confident and comfortable as they pursue their education,” said Mwalabu.

Meanwhile, ONESFO has urged potential donors to emulate what Kapangama has done.
