KELO WINES UNWRAPS THE FLAVOURS OF MALAWI

Mzuzu city based wine producing company, Kelo Wines is redefining the country’s wine industry with its unique blend of wine products.

Kelo Wines, founded by three visionary entreprenuers is captivating palates with its exquisite range of wines crafted from locally sourced ingredients.

The company’s managing director, Lusekelo Menechanya has told ProjectM in an interview that his passion for wine making dates back to 2017 and it knows no bounds.

“Since 2017, I’ve always wanted to create something truly Malawian and that’s when this idea came,” Menechanya explained.

He said Kelo Wines are made from the finest local ingredients such as Bananas, Honey, Tamarind and Hibiscus.

“Although I cannot comfortably reveal the whole production process for business reasons, these ingredients are then carefully selected and sorted to showcase the rich flavours of our country,” said Menechanya.

Kelo Wines’ portfolio boosts an impressive array of varieties, each with its own distinct character.

The banana wine is infused with hints of tropical fruit.

The hibiscus wine, with its subtle floral notes, is perfect for those seeking refreshing twist, that’s according to Menechanya.

“Since we launched production of the wines at an industrial scale 2 years ago, our products have garnered rave reviews from wine enthusiasts and novices alike,” He added.

The company plans to expand its reach and penetrate the international markets soon.

Wine enthusiast, Abel Kafera Banda based in Biwi township, Lilongwe, has described Keli Wines as simply incredible.

“I was blown away by the complexity and depth of the banana wine,” said Kafera Banda.
