Khulubvi Cultural and Arts Festival (KCAF) says it will organise a memorial music show for the Shire Valley fallen artists on 3 May in the district.
KCAF Coordinator Eric Trinta said the organisation feels it is important to hold such event for the fallen music icons of the region.
Speaking to ProjectM, Trinta said the cultural festival would like to pay tribute to the contribution of, among others, the late Katelele Ching’oma, Joseph Tembo, Grace Chinga and DJ Sautso Ndalama.
Trinta, who is also the Managing Director for Nyamithambo Arts Palace, said the management of the Nyamithambo Arts Palace and Khulubvi Arts and Cultural Festival decided to organise the event.
He said the memorial music show will be held at Bangula Trading Centre in Nsanje.
“This will be the first memorial music show to be organised in the Shire Valley districts for the fallen heroes. It will be an annual event to be done at different venues in Nsanje,” said the coordinator.
He further said by holding the show at Bangula Trading Centre, it will be easier for the KACF to reach out to the communities in the area.
Chairperson for the KACF Peter Million said the organisation values the role these artists played in the development of the music industry in the region and the country as a whole.
He said the event is coming at the time as the KACF is preparing for the third festival in June this year.
“We are in the process of consulting the fallen heroes relatives before the memorial music show,” said the chair.
