KACHAMBA TO EMPOWER TEACHERS WITH ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS

Malawi’s renowned entrepreneur Kondwani Kachamba Ngwira has said he will train teachers in business management, product manufacturing, innovation and value addition skills.

Writing on his facebook page, he said the training programme, set for next month will among other things, empower teachers across the country to improve on their livelihoods.

The entrepreneur said the training programme targets both qualified and student teachers in the country which will take place in Teachers Training Colleges and Teachers Development Centres.

He also said that the programme would provide teachers with viable economic ventures through manufacturing of different products such as; sugar, powder milk, paint, welding cakes, lime, soy milk yoghurts, and bread.

Said Kachamba: “This initiative is for free and is poised to boost the manufacturing industry and foster a new generation of entrepreneurial teachers in the country. In my opinion I believe that this shift in mind-set is aimed at introducing new and possibly improved ways of training entrepreneurs in Malawi away from our education system.

“For example, if we train at least 500,000 teachers, in 10 years to come, there will be more than 100 companies that will be able to produce paint in the country. “

He said Malawi’s development blueprint 2063 should start by engaging teachers to foster sustainable growth and self-sufficiency.

“We urge all teachers and Malawians at large to embrace lifelong learning because the world is evolving fast; hence, skills that are relevant today might not be there tomorrow.

“If you are passionate about sharing your knowledge, skills and experience to guide others on their journey and shaping the careers and the future of emerging leaders, we kindly invite you to join our mentorship programme.”
