Christina Khoriyo, popularly known as Jetu, is causing sensation in the music industry.
Jetu, 72, continues to mesmerise her fans with hit songs including the recently released single titled “Chakwaza”.
Her remarkable music journey has left proved skeptics to become one of the county’s oldest and active popular female artists.
Her latest single (Chakwaza) has gained over 700,000 views on YouTube and is on course to break longstanding record for most viewed video on YouTube in a few days.
She has recently told the media that she enjoys what she is doing, contrary to some people’s perception that she is being used for fame and fortune.
“My name is Jetu and I love what I am doing now. Nobody should deceive you that I am not happy,” said Jetu in a video clip shared on social media platforms.
The 72-year-old has since become one of the country’s most sought artists, with some show organizers scrambling for her appearance in their gigs.
Malawi Network of Older Person’s Organisation (MANEPO) executive director Andrew Kavala has said Jetu’s breakthrough in music industry is an indication that the elderly can still do wonders.
