INNOVATOR CALLS FOR SUPPORT ON VISUALLY-IMPAIRED GADGET

HB Space LT, a technological company credited with the invention of an “Obstacle Avoidance Gadget” for visually-impaired people, has called on well-wishers to support the company as it plans to launch its works on a larger scale.

Through a statement, CEO of the company, Hudson Mwangalika has appealed for financial support as the company hopes to start production of its products on an industrial scale.

The appeal comes as the company in conjunction with the Malawi Union for the Blind hopes to start supplying the Obstacle Avoidance Gadget to visually-impaired people across the country.

Among others, the gadget is designed to assist visually impaired persons perform tasks that could be difficult to without help.

The gadget takes a form of a wearable cap which is then worn by the user.

Using advanced technology, the gadget communicates with the user through voice commands, alerting them on obstacles in their path.

“Your contributions, no matter the amount will make a profound difference in the lives of those grappling with blindness,” said Mwangalika through the statement.

Meanwhile, the Malawi Union of the Blind has appealed well-wishers to support the cause as one way of assisting visually-impaired persons.

Production of one device can cost up to K430,000.
