As the New Year dawned, the Hope of Glory Church extended its celebration beyond the pulpit by reaching out to the often-overlooked members of society: the elderly.
Led by Pastor Ronald Chimwemwe Kaduya, the church visited communities in Mulanje and Thyolo districts, bringing hope, joy, and much-needed support to senior citizens.
Pastor Kaduya highlighted a critical issue in Malawian society of diminishing respect for the elderly.
“In our culture, elders are pillars of wisdom, yet they are often mistreated or mocked.
As Christians, we are called to honor and uplift them,” he said.
With this mission in mind, the church provided essential items such as fortified maize flour, soy pieces, soap, and cloths.
These seemingly simple gifts had a profound impact.
For individuals like Joseph Yakobo from Nanseta Village, Senior Chief Nanseta, the gesture was life-changing.
“These are things we could never have afforded on our own. We are deeply grateful to the church for their kindness,” he shared.
As the church celebrated the New Year, they reminded the community of the importance of compassion and respect for all generations, a message that resonates far beyond the festive season.
