GABADINHO OPENS SCORING ACCOUNT AT NEW CLUB

South Africa-based Malawian prolific striker Gabadinho Mhango scored his first goal for his new team Marumo Gallants despite losing 4-1 to giants Sundowns.

The former Orlando Pirates, FCB Nyasa Bullets and AmaZulu ace has been the centre of discussion following his fall-out with Malawi National Football Team coach Patrick Mabedi’s controversial snubbing for national duty.

Gabadinho, who was featured as substitute made an immediate impact winning a penalty which was saved before making amends to score the consolation in the 84th minute.

He was thrown into the deep end in the 60th minute.

But he said the missing of the penalty and the team’s third consecutive loss overshadowed his first goal.

Said: “I was disappointed to miss the penalty and again losing three games was frustrating for me despite scoring. But I am optimistic that we will cover and get our campaign back on track.”

Mhango found himself with Marumo Gallants after Morokwa Swallows sold the franchise to the Bloemfontein-based outfit..

He breathed a sigh of relief after the new owners spared him from the clear out.

Meanwhile, his compatriot Limbikani Mzava and Malawi National Football team captain returned to action after two years in the doldrums. He featured for Magetsi FC’s match against his former club Golden Arrows.

Magetsi were leading with a goal by Wonderboy Makhabu’s goal from the former Escom United defender’s assist.

But the match was abandoned in the 86th minute due to floodlights faults.
