From Streets to Hope for Young People

In a world where poverty, abuse, and exploitation threaten the lives of countless orphaned and vulnerable children, one organisation is a beacon of hope.

Hope for Young People (HYP), founded by Sydney Dinga in 2017, is dedicated to alleviating human suffering and empowering young lives.

“I saw how these young lives were being ravaged by poverty, abuse, neglect, exploitation, and trafficking, many were forced to leave their guardians’ homes and take to the streets, seeking a better life or solace,” Dinga told ProjectM.

Determined to make a difference, Dinga established HYP to promote spiritual growth, health, socio-economic development, education and human rights for children and young people.

“We are determined to offer a beacon of hope to those who need it most,” he said.

Despite operating on a shoestring budget, relying on the founder’s personal resources, HYP has remained committed to its mission.

“It’s been a challenge, but we’re driven by our passion to make a difference,” explained Dinga.

As part of its efforts to raise awareness and support, HYP is hosting an awareness campaign on February 8 at Chiuzira Ground in Lilongwe.

Professional footballer Mark Fodya from Silver Strikers FC will be the guest of honour.

“We’re excited to have Mark Fodya join us for this event, we believe that together, we can make a real difference in the lives of these young people,” said Dinga.

To support the cause, HYP is calling on well-wishers to donate essential items such as sugar, soap and clothes.

“Every little bit counts, We’re grateful for any support we can get,” he urged.

Despite facing significant funding challenges, HYP remains resolute in its mission to empower the youth.

“We won’t give up, We’ll keep fighting for these young people, because they deserve a brighter future,” said Dinga.
