In a country where agriculture is the backbone of the economy, one Malawian entrepreneur is making waves with his innovation in supporting local farmers.
Mwaiwawo Odala Kukada, founder and managing director of AGRICHE in Lilongwe, has built a thriving business that not only provides a market for local farmers but also produces a range of value-added products.
A holder of a degree in Business Administration and Accounting, Kukada has leveraged his knowledge and skills to grow AGRICHE into a leading player in Malawi’s food processing industry.
From humble beginnings in 2017, AGRICHE has grown to become a household name, with its products, including Nyonga Phala, Nyonga Hot Chili, and Nyonga Peanut Butter, available in leading retail shops and grocery stores across Malawi.
But Kukada’s vision goes beyond just building a successful business. He is passionate about supporting local farmers and creating jobs for the community. Currently, AGRICHE has employed 15 permanent workers and plans to hire more as the business expands.
AGRICHE’s success has not been limited to the local market, the company has successfully penetrated international markets, with its products now available in Zambia, Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
“We believe in empowering local farmers and providing them with a reliable market for their produce, by doing so, we are not only improving their livelihoods but also contributing to the growth of Malawi’s economy,” said Kukada.
AGRICHE’s success has not gone unnoticed, the company has received support from organizations such as SMEDI, which has provided training and linkages to local and international markets.
As AGRICHE continues to grow and expand, Kukada remains committed to his vision of a better future for Malawian farmers and the community at large.
“I have been a loyal customer of AGRICHE for over a year now, and I can confidently say that their products are of the highest quality, their peanut butter is my favourite.
“It’s creamy, delicious, and made with love, I’m proud to support a Malawian business that is making a real difference in the lives of local farmers and communities,” said Sarai Makala, a satisfied customer.
