In a powerful show of compassion and community support, Mama Mwiza Foundation has donated a sewing machine worth K450,000 to a physically challenged woman who works as a tailor in Chikho Village, Lilongwe. The donation, which aims to uplift and empower persons with disabilities, has brought renewed hope to the beneficiary, who had been struggling to make ends meet.
The foundation, led by Prophetess Mwiza Hanna Phiri of Rivers of Testimonies Ministries, continues to make significant strides in addressing the needs of vulnerable groups across Malawi. Speaking on the foundation’s mission, Prophetess Phiri highlighted the importance of reaching out to those in need.
“I don’t feel good seeing others suffer. It gives me peace when I help the needy,” she said, emphasizing that the joy of giving far outweighs anything material.
The recipient of the donation, Sophie Banda, expressed deep gratitude and emotion upon receiving the much-needed equipment.
“I am glad this donation has come to me. I had no means of surviving, but I know how to sew, so now I believe things will be a bit easy. All thanks to Mama Mwiza Foundation,” she said with a beaming smile.
Sophie, who has faced many challenges due to her physical condition, shared how she had long desired a proper sewing machine to support herself through tailoring, a skill she has nurtured for years. With no steady source of income and limited mobility, earning a living was becoming increasingly difficult.
“Most times I had to turn down orders because I had no sewing machine. This donation has changed everything,” Sophie added.
