FIIG ENERGY DEVELOPS POTABLE BATTERY UNIT

Amid rising calls for the agricultural sector to adopt innovation as one way of maximizing harvests, Lilongwe-based innovation group “FAVOA Innovations and Investments Group” (FIIG) has developed a battery unit capable of powering gadgets that are vital in agriculture.

FIIG president Brighton Jeremoti Zakaria says the battery unit can power gadgets such as irrigation pumps, incubators and other gadgets farmers use on a daily basis.

Zakaria has since implored farmers to transition from the use of outdated ways of farming in favour of new and innovative ways.

“We came up with this battery unit after noticing that farmers who are into irrigation farming were finding it tough to irrigate their crops,” Zakaria said.

The battery unit can be recharged using solar panels and it can also be connected to the electricity grid.

“This battery is also very potable because it is tightly packed and it does not occupy a large space,” said Zakaria.

The gadget has already received a positive response with farmers coming from as far as Zomba to purchase it.

Ken Londetsa, a farmer from Zomba has hailed the battery unit, calling it reliable.
