FHF BUILDS 5 TOILETS WORTH MWK12.2 MILLION IN CHIKWAWA

Faith Heart Foundation (FHF) says it is geared to promote hygiene by building five toilets to the tune of K12.2 million at two primary schools in Chikwawa.

FHF Coordinator Bishop Alex Steven Bango said they want to promote hygiene practices in schools to ensure dignity for girls in order to motivate them.

He said his organisation has built three toilets at John Primary School and two toilets at Konzere Primary School in the area of Traditional Authority Ngowe in the district.

Bango told ProjectM that they have spent K6.3 million for three toilets and K5.9 million for the two toilets with support from the Bread Water of Africa organisation of the United States of America.

Deputy headteacher for the institution Isaac Chasauka hailed FHF for bailing his school which had less toilets which negatively affected hygiene and sanitation.

He said the toilets will help girls have dignity especially during menstruation.

“We are requesting Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and well-wishers to emulate the gesture of the FHF to build more toilets to meet the enrollment of 552 learners,” said the deputy headteacher.

In his remarks Traditional Authority Ngowe also said schools need more toilets.

“The toilets will give girls dignity and motivation which they deserve,” said the traditional leader.
