One of the country’s leading financial services provider, FDH Bank has made a donation of K30 million to a renowned charity organisation, Mary’s Meals Malawi, in support of the organisation’s school feeding program.
FDH Bank head of corporate and institutional banking, Kawawa Msapato, said the bank has made the donation as one way of supporting the school feeding programme to improve education and well-being of children in hunger-stricken communities across the country.
Msapato said the bank has also made the donation as part of fulfilling its corporate social responsibility.
“We are delighted to contribute to the good work Mary’s Meals Malawi is implementing in some schools across the country,” he said.
FDH Bank added that the donation also aligns with the bank’s principles that prioritises education.
“The more our children go to school and do well in class, the more we are proud,” said Msapato.
Mary’s Meals Malawi country director, Angela Chipeta-Khonje hailed FDH Bank for the donation.
“This donation has come at a right time as many families are battling economic pressures and food insecurity,” she said.
Khonje appealed to potential partners to emulate what FDH Bank has done.
“We have plans to increase the number of children we are feeding from 1.2 million to 1.4 million by June this year and we can only accomplish that if more partners come in,” Khonje added.
Data sourced from Mary’s Meals shows that the organisation is currently providing nutritious school meals to more than 2.6 million children in 16 countries every school day.
Currently, Malawi is the highest recipient of the organization’s aid followed by Liberia, where the organization is feeding over 90,000 children and South Sudan where 70,000 children are benefiting.
