ENTREPRENEUR MAKES STRIDES IN TACKLING MALNUTRITION

In a bid to address the pressing issue of malnutrition in Malawi, entrepreneur Esther Chongwe has founded Able God Investment, a food business operating under the brand name WIZENGE.

Chongwe’s initiative has been driven by a passion to improve the health and wellbeing of Malawians, particularly under-five children,through WIZENGE, she produces and markets nutritious food products, including porridge flour, brown rice, hibiscus tea and chilli and tomato sauces.

Despite facing challenges such as stiff competition and limited working capital, Able God Investment has made significant progress in providing healthier food alternatives to families with special dietary needs.

“It was like a dream and I never thought it reach this far but am glad it is going where I want to be, I am happy that I am helping my country to fight malnutrition,” added Chongwe.

With support from the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Institute (SMEDI), she has enhanced her knowledge of product packaging and standards, and successfully participated in trade fairs to boost product awareness and sales.

Looking ahead, she plans to expand her operations by acquiring land for ingredient cultivation and purchasing milling equipment to increase efficiency.

“With this support, I have hope that my plans will work out, this is not only helping me in other many families benefits from it as it provides them job opportunities. So far, I have employed several youth and families and will continue employing them,” said Chongwe.

Able God Investment’s commitment to sustainability and customer engagement positions the business for growth, poised to make a lasting impact on addressing malnutrition in Malawi.

Alice Chabwera a clinician at Tachila private hospital has hailed Chongwe’s products describing them as tasty and delicious.

“My table is always filled with her products. As Malawians, we should always support these young entrepreneurs most of their products are made from organic raw materials which are good for bodies,” she said.
