ECOBANK DONATES K26.6M LEARNING EQUIPMENT

Ecobank Malawi has donated learning equipment to Madziabango Primary School in Blantyre worth K26.6 million.

Executive Director for Ecobank Malawi, Weluzani Chingota, said the tools will go down in history in equipping children with fundamentals such as literacy, numeracy, and digital skills, which are critical to their future success.

Chingota told ProjectM that by leveraging STEAM and technology education, they are not only ensuring that these children thrive in school but also laying the groundwork for their role in Malawi’s broader digital economy.

“With these digital equipment, even the most disadvantaged learner in a remote area like Madziabango will have access to quality educational content delivered right at their fingertips,” he said.

Secretary for Education, Associate Prof. Mangani Chilala Katundu, applauded the bank for the donation, saying “the world is going digital.”

He hailed Ecobank Malawi for partnering the Ministry of Education in advancing digital learning.

Katundu expressed his gratitude to the bank for its commitment to supporting quality education in the country.

“The ministry has enhanced its efforts towards addressing the fundamental challenges the education sector is facing through the development of first-strand initiatives to improve learning outcomes for learners,” he said.

The donation was made during Ecobank Day under the theme “Transforming Africa Through Education – Ignite Learning with AI.”
